Mother Banjo is a one-woman band featuring Ellen Stanley on banjo and vocals. Her music combines the haunting sounds of traditional folk and gospel with contemporary alt-country and Americana hooks. Poetic and rich, her songs are sad, sweet and full of the stories that inhabit the wide open prairies of the Midwest.

Mother Banjo is celebrating the season with some fun free treats! She's offering a free download of her new seasonal breakup song "Christmas Came Early" on her Facebook page. And this Friday she's playing a special hometown show to kick off the holiday weekend at The Republic at Seven Corners. Accompanied by piano player Ben Cook-Feltz and featuring special guests, she'll play new originals and fun wintertime songs.

Mother Banjo makes her Toronto debut on Thursday, November 24th at TRANZAC's Southern Cross Lounge, opening up a great night of bluegrass music. Doors are at 6:30 pm, and there's no cover so come on out for this nice early show!
Mother Banjo will be making a live television appearance on Monday, November 7th at 11 am on KARE-11! She'll play live and talk about her monthly concert series at the Amsterdam Bar and Hall in St. Paul. Tune in live or check out her performance online!
